Makkum
Makkum is located on the IJsselmeer coast in the southwest of Friesland. This lively fishing village with its stately merchant houses and decorated gables was, in the past, a very important location for industry and trade. Today Makkum is a popular place for watersports, with many boats and yachts passing through the old floodgate in Makkum.

Enjoy the comfortable terraces, restaurants, and quaint shops of Makkum. Especially in the summer months, there are several festivities organised in Makkum. Examples include a short horse racing track and various evening markets
Boulevard
The boulevard attracts much public throughout both summer and winter months. It's a wonderful place to take a stroll, relax and enjoy the surroundings. Along the boulevard, a wide array of shops, surf schools, as well as restaurants can be found.
Exmorra, Allingawier and Piaam form a very unique museum route. 20 kilometeres of cultural history in the form of beautifully restored historical buildings with original interiors, crafts, tools and utensils. This is all that was left by the 18th and 19th century Frisian rural population. Walk, cycle, or sail this 20 kilometer-long culturally historic route, while enjoying the Frisian polder landscape.
